As a young man preparing to leave the Navy, he had been offered a prestigious position in another part of the country. He was settled into a life with his live-in girlfriend, and his future seemed mapped out. But then he found himself back in Florida, sitting at his mother’s bedside as she faced a life-threatening operation. In that moment, Austin had to confront not only what came next for his mother, but also the direction his own life would take.
